Chris would like to thank all people who have sent emails through the site and those that have signed the get well soon guestbook. Chris recently gave an interview to the Evening Star newspaper in which he promised he'd be back. The Witches skipper,

who broke in half the ball at the top of his right arm socket in a frightening crash at Foxhall on Thursday night, is now resting and awaiting more diagnosis on the length of time his injury will take to heal.

But one thing is for certain, there is no talk of retirement in the Louis household just yet.
Now is not the time for me to be talking about the long-term,” Louis said.

“This injury needs to settle down for a month, so I can get a proper diagnosis. It is going to be at least two or three months, of course it is. It might even be longer, perhaps six months. But until I know I'm making no decision on my career.”

Witch Logo Chris has ended the 2007 season by lifting the 16 Lap Classic meeting at Ipswich. It was Loobie's 6th title in the competition over the years. Despite a disappointing season on the track for the Witches Chris has enjoyed personal success and has fulfilled many guest booking, culminating in yet another booking for the Lakeside Hammer whom he rode for in their recent cup semi-final with Coventry scoring 9 points (3 3 2 1)
From the winner’s podium Chris Louis said The harder laps seem to get a little earlier in the race each passing year for me but it was a good meeting and I am delighted to win it again. I shall be back next year to try and win again”.

Chris has made his seasonal debut on the continent with mixed results. He scored just 2 points on his return to the Swedish Elite Serien, after a 6 year absence, as Kaparna were well beaten in their first match back in the top flight 36-60 at home to VMS Elit. He enjoyed a better
debut in Poland for his new club Lotos Gdansk scoring 6+1 (1 1 3 1') as they thrashed league leaders Ostrow 58-33 in front of 10,000 fans in Gdansk. This match is available to view on Poland's TV Channel 9 website, click here>>>>, (select the match Mecz Lotos Gdańsk vs Intar Lazur Ostrów Wlkp, z dnia 03.05.2007). Witch Logo Chris' first guest booking of the year was, probably to the relief of all Ipswich supporters, rained off. He did however guest for Reading at Eastbourne last night, scoring 7+2. Chris will also represent the Witches in the EL pairs event at Kings Lynn, which is part of the Super
7even Series for 2007. Keep a check on his scores this season here>>>.

Lotos Gdansk Logo Chris has signed to ride for Polish 1 Liga side Lotos Gdansk for the 2007 season. He has also agreed to ride for Kaparna in the Swedish Elite Serien. In Poland Chris moves from fellow Liga 1 side TZ Lublin to the ambitious Gdansk team team that features 2 other Englishmen
(Andy Smith and Gary Havelock) in their 11 man squad for the coming season. The side were promoted from the Liga II (third division) into the second tier of Polish Speedway and have amassed an impressive side including Bjarne Pedersen and  Tomasz Chrzanowski. Chris is looking forward to the challenge of riding in Poland again as well as linking up with his Witches team mate Kim Jansson in riding in Gothenburg for the Kaparna side. Kaparna were also promoted in 2006, having been relegated from the Swedish Elite Serien in 2005 they were successful in bouncing back at the first attempt and once more will face the top sides in Sweden on a weekly basis.

Chris also will be appearing at the MCN Motorcycle Show at the ExCel in London later today. He also promises to pen another column for this website soon.

23 December 2006
Witch Logo Chris has signed his Witches contract and has been officially announced as part of the Witches side for 2007. Chris recently appeared on Town 102 FM to talk about his career and the Witches side, and their chances of success, for the forthcoming season. Chris had this to say over the recent signing of young Polish rider
Marcin Rempala.“Marcin is a rider we have followed since the World Cup Final of 2004 and watched him improve. He has waited for the right time to come to England and feels that time is now.”
14 September 2006
Witch Logo Chris made his much awaited comeback in tonight's Elite League match at Foxhall against the Eastbourne Eagles. Sadly he was forced to withdraw from the meeting after just two rides on the advice of the track doctor. Chris recorded two lasts in his starts and was in
a lot of pain from his injured collarbone. The Witches lost their final home match 42-48.
29 August 2006
Witch Logo Chris hopes that he will be back in action within a couple of weeks. He will see Brian Simpson later this week and will hopefully know more after this.  Speaking in the EADT Chris explains " Apparently it is a bit of a messy break and maybe it will be a better option to plate it, which would speed things up".

27 August 2006
Witch Logo Chris has broken his collarbone whilst guesting for Belle Vue in their recent match at Arena Essex. Chris was called upon to ride in place of the absent Jason Crump and had served the Aces well winning his first three rides. In his fourth ride, heat 13, he was forced to lay
down as his team mate for the night Simon Steed fell in front of him. Chris was treated at the track for a suspected broken collarbone, which was later confirmed. He appeared as a panellist of the SKY SPORTS Speedway GP programme last night looking fit and well, with the obvious exception of having his arm in a sling!
8 August 2006
Witch Logo Chris has had a hugely busy schedule of late, which included a late call up into the national side for the recent Speedway world Cup. Chris's brilliant recent form has also seen him in demand for guest bookings, and in three recent bookings he has dropped just 4 points
in 16 rides. Chris has now improved his CMA for all Elite League fixtures to 8.06 and his new Green Sheet average has improved from 6.59 to 7.04.Chris hopes to provide a column soon, and apologies for the lack of new comment by him in his column.

Keep abreast of his current racing schedule and check on his scores this season by reviewing his scores for the 2006 season thus far. This part of the site is updated regularly. We are still working on getting ALL of Chris's league information online ASAP, this is large project however as we have the best part of 17 years worth of statistics to compile!

  17 April 2006
Lublin Logo Chris returned to action in Poland earlier today after a 5 year absence scoring 6 paid 7 points for his side TZ Lublin in their defeat at GTŻ Grudziądz. Chris's scorecard was 1', 3, 0, 2,  0 = 6+1. The final score was 54-36 to the home side GTŻ Grudziądz. The meeting was overshadowed by the news that his Lublin team mate Adam Shields has sustained a broken pelvis in a crash.

In his first ride Chris finished behind team mate Shields as they claimed a 3-3 shared heat. Chris's second ride was in heat 6 which he won, the same race that Shields sustained his injuries. Chris ran a last in his third ride, although his team mate Piotr Swist, who replaced the injured Shields, won the race. He was second in heat 11, and then finished his first performance in Poland since 2001 with another last in heat 15. Chris scores thus far this season can be accessed here <scores>.

  21 March 2006

Chris was happy with the opening matches of 2006. He also got to lift some silverware as the Witches lifted the Suffolk Cup. Speaking about his first visit to West Row since 1992 he commented. "I haven't been here since 1992 and I think that the Mildenhall team are in for a successful 2006 judging by their efforts this afternoon. This is only the second meeting for the Witches and all the riders are now getting back into the groove. Of course the serious stuff starts this week with Home and Away Elite League meeting against Oxford, but today against Mildenhall has given us all a chance to sharpen up whilst also having an enjoyable afternoons racing. It was good to see a large crowd watching the action, providing once again what a hot-bed of speedway East Anglia is. It would be good to keep this Suffolk Cup in the calendar as it is the perfect way for both Clubs to kick off their respective seasons."

  9 March  2006

With the season just about to start, the Witches Practice was washed out on two consecutive days but incessant heavy rain. This didn't stop the Witches from taking the traditional stand in front of the Press at Foxhall Stadium yesterday.

Chris pictured at the Ipswich Press Day 2006
Speaking exclusively to Elvin King of the local Ipswich Evening Star Newspaper a few days ago Chris spoke about his hopes for the coming season, and also issued a rallying cry for promoters to champion young up and coming British talent. “We always put British riders first. It makes it better in the pits and better for communications. Mark is the last English rider to win the world title, and that was under six years ago. We could not have brought in a better man to wave the flag for our country. The British Speedway Promoters' Association should give incentives and make it easier for clubs, from the Elite League down to the Conference, to track home-grown riders. Not enough British youngsters are moving out of the Premier League into the Elite League - and this will always have an effect on how good we do on the world stage with only Scott Nicholls and Lee Richardson up to international standards right now.” Chris admitted that despite their being no recognised out and out No 1 rider he felt happy with the line up. “We could not have achieved a better balance, and I am sure our fans are in for a successful season, We do not have an out-and-out number one, but in Mark, Piotr Protasiewicz and myself I am sure we can cover for this. I admit that we tried for a number one: Tony Rickardsson was in our thoughts and we did all we could to purchase Hans Andersen but his salary figure at Peterborough held sway. We had someone lined up who would have become a big hit at Foxhall. We were within a whisker of purchasing him, and he would have matured into a seasoned number one in a couple of years. But that may come later. We have a good asset base, but riders like Tomasz Gollob and Jarek Hampel are not keen to ride in England right now while Tony (Rickardsson) only wants to ride here for six weeks. We have the money from the sale of Scott Nicholls to Coventry and that £36,000 is not going to be frittered away." He also confirmed that after the promise of 2004 and the disappointment of 2005 the club are desperate to be successful in 2006. 1 November 2005

Hi and welcome to my new site which I hope you will find interesting, informative and fun.  I may have been a little while catching up with the modern world of computers but here in Suffolk we’ve only just got colour television so you’ll have to forgive me (think I might take some stick from my fellow carrot crunchers for that one).

My aim is to keep the site updated weekly with plenty of news and gossip (like the net needs more of that!) and all my results through the season.  As you read this we are seeking more interesting pictures and video footage both new and old to bring back a few memories or just give a laugh, so remember to come back regularly to see what’s new.

It seems like a long time ago now that I sat in a Swedish hospital in immense pain and considering where my future lies.  After long discussions with my family and friends I must admit that my mind was made up and I went along to Tenerife for the 2003 AGM as a new promoter.  New ideas and rules were put in place in what I felt was a constructive gathering of promoters and we set out to put together an exciting side to move us far away from the disasters of 2003.  One place to fill and with a quick look at the new grades it soon became apparent that I would fit perfectly and complement the side with my experience, but could I score the points and did I want to try?  Well I can tell you the answer to the latter was you bet, as for scoring the points my answer to JL and Mike was “if your prepared to risk it I’ll give you 100%”.  As the season drew closer I was working hard and getting much fitter and more confident that I could get over my fears and reservations after two painful injuries and long lay off.  That brings me to today and having had two reasonably successful seasons since that return I can honestly say that without the pressures of two other foreign leagues and the GP circuit I am enjoying my speedway as much as any time in my career.  As for the future well from now on it’s one year at a time but I don’t want to quit without another League winners medal so it’s back to the gym and another meeting with JL and Mike.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my mechanics that have served me so well over the past 18 years (it can’t be that long) and in the future,  Nigel (Slingshot) Wells, Nick Lanham, Lee Dixon, Mick Day, Nick Bloom, driver Richard “Strawb” Scales (and wife Sue) and all my mates that have helped out.  I would also like to thank my sponsors both past and current for their financial help and friendship.  Whilst I’m on the subject of friendship I would like to say a big thank you to my personal fans and those who support Speedway all over the world for making the thrill of winning even more special.

I look forward to your comments and thank you for visiting my site.

Best Wishes,

Chris.
